Merchieftainess Murcus was the leader of the Merpeople that lived in the lake in the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was a ferocious-looking female. Following the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament, she relayed Harry Potter's actions at the Merpeople village, and his desire to rescue all the hostages, to Albus Dumbledore.
