Morphine was a pain medication of the opiate type derived primarily from a particular species of poppy.[1]
William Friend was arrested in Brooklyn on 18 November 1916 for having morphine in his possession.[2][3] The case eventually proceeded to the Court of Special Sessions.[2][3]
