Mooncalf dung was the faeces of the Mooncalf. It could only be harvested when the Mooncalf emerged from its burrow during the full moon.[2]
Description[]
If collected before the sun rose, it would make any magical plant it was spread on grow fast and strong.[2]
Taking mooncalf dung from a field owned by another witch or wizard without permission was illegal, and reported cases of theft by Summoning Charm were prosecuted by either the Improper Use of Magic Office and/or the Wizengamot.[3]
The Sopophorous plant was endemic to gloomy marshlands and would sprout there especially if fertilised by Mooncalf dung.[4]
History[]
Cassandra Vole had some Mooncalf dung in 2010. Around Hallowe'en, when students were helping Rubeus Hagrid regrow his pumpkins, she suggested an unidentified student use the Mooncalf dung to speed up the process.[1]
