This article is about the organisation in general. You may be looking for the British Ministry of Magic, commonly referred to merely as the Ministry of Magic by Britons.

A Ministry of Magic is the primary governing body of the magical community in many countries. Headed by a Minister for Magic, a Ministry of Magic is responsible for regulating and enforcing laws for the magical community, as well as keeping said community hidden from the Muggle world.

  • It is possible that, in countries where the Muggle government is not divided up into ministries, the wizarding governing body takes a different name styled after the appropriate term in that country. This cannot be confirmed, however, as wizarding government in countries without ministries has yet to be referred to.
