Minerva was a powerful witch. She was the grandmother of Isobel McGonagall née Ross, and, through her, the great-grandmother of Minerva, Malcolm and Robert McGonagall Jr.. Isobel named her firstborn child in her grandmother's honour because she missed the family and magical community that she had to leave behind when she married a Muggle man.[1]
