Metelojinx was the incantation of a Weather-Modifying Charm that created a small, localised thunderstorm.[1]

Behind the scenes

  • The effect of this spell is similar to that of malfunctioning Atmospheric Charms in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. However, given that said effect was produced by the spells malfunctioning rather than being the intended effect, it is not likely they are the same spell.
  • It also produces a remarkably similar effect to the Tempest Jinx, and it is therefore possible they are the same spell.
  • At the Japanese Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a similar spell, Meteolojinx, can be cast to create a snow storm. The similar incantations suggest it is the same spell, and that thunder and rain are not the only effects of the spell.[2]
  • This may have been the spell used by one of the semi-finalists of the 1379 duelling contest to summon a cloud full of rain.
