Maud Montague was a witch whose portrait hung at Hogwarts Castle in the 1990s.[1]
It is possible that Maud was a forerunner of the Montague family, which was active in the 20th century.
Behind the scenes[]
- The portrait of Maud Montague was based on a 1506 portrait titled "Laura", by Giorgione (c. 1477–1510)

- ↑ In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Chapter 4 (Horace Slughorn), Horace Slughorn states that family members are often sorted into the same House. This may indicate that Maud was sorted into Slytherin, as she is likely an ancestor of Graham Montague, a Slytherin. However, there are exceptions.
