The name "Matthew" is the English form of Ματθαιος (Matthaios), which was a Greek form of the Hebrew name מַתִּתְיָהוּ (Mattityahu) meaning "gift of Yahweh". Echunga is a town in South Australia; the name is of Aboriginal origin.
