The Major Investigation Department was an office found deep within of the headquarters of the Magical Congress of the United States of America that tracked magical activity, hunted wanted criminals, and worked to prevent exposure of the wizarding world.

Usage

Members of the department included the Investigative Team, which included the input of the President of the Magical Congress of the United States of America and highest-level Aurors.[1][2]

They gathered in a meeting room located deep within the Magical Congress of the United States of America in which high level MACUSA employees met to discuss ongoing investigations. In addition to a large meeting table, it held various tools to track magical activity such as a Real-Time Hex Indicator map, Spell Contraventions map, detailed maps of New York, a bulletin board of wanted criminals, and copies of Rappaport's Law.[3] It also held wooden cabinets whose drawers were filled with past investigation files and subject to the highest level of magical security measures.[3]

History

In 1926, the Invesigative Team included the participation of President Seraphina Picquery and highest Aurors including Percival Graves.[1][2]

On 6 December 1926, President Seraphina Picquery and Percival Graves (actually Gellert Grindelwald in disguise) held a meeting in this department to discuss the strange events taking place in New York.[3]

On 7 December 1926, President Picquery met in the Major Investigation Department with top Aurors to track the destruction caused by the Obscurus of Credence Barebone.[4]
