The mother of Mafalda was a planned character for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. She was a Muggle who married an estranged second cousin of Molly Weasley. After discovering her daughter was a witch, she went with her husband to visit the Weasley family, hoping that they would help introduce Mafalda to the wizarding world.[2]
