Macdonald is an Anglicized form of the Gaelic surname Mac Dhomhnuill, meaning "son of Domhnall.^[1] Domhnall is the original Gaelic form of Donald,^[2] and derives from the old Celtic elements domno, "world," and val, "rule." It is the first name of Brendan Gleeson's son, who played Bill Weasley in the two parts of "Deathly Hallows".^[1][3]
