Lysander Scamander is one of the twins born to Luna Lovegood and Rolf Scamander. He has a twin brother, Lorcan.[3]

- Lysander is the name of a principle character in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The play takes place in a single night, lit by moonlight as Oberon states, which harkens back to Lysander's mother Luna.
- Lysander was also the name of a Spartan General.
