"A blinding blast of light flashes from the second story window of Number Four."
— Description[src]

Lumos Maxima is the incantation of the strongest variation of the Wand-Lighting Charm. It produces a blinding flash of light from the very tip of the wand; it can be thrown far off of the wand, illuminating the surrounding area for several minutes after its initial casting, floating in mid-air, before darkening.

This charm is covered in chapter thirty-two of Extreme Incantations by Violeta Stitch; this book is used for the third years' charms homework.

At the end of the 1992-1993 school year, Professor Filius Flitwick assigned his second year students this charm to practice in the summer before their third year.

Etymology

The incantation is derived from the incantation for its predecessor, "Lumos", and the Latin word "maxima", which means "very great" or "greatest".
