Lumos Duo is a variation of the Lumos spell. It creates a light connection between the caster's wand and an object.

Casting the spell causes an extra-intense beam of light to emit from the wand, forcing Hinkypunks to turn solid and Ghouls to retreat. It can also be used to charge crystal balls with light.

This spell is learned in Third Year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

History

1993

During the 1993–1994 school year, Charity Burbage, who replaced a wizard as professor of Muggle Studies, placed a Lumos Duo spellbook in the Muggle Studies Classroom. Ronald Weasley later found it and took it, learning the spell for himself and using it against several Hinkypunks and the ghoul which was harassing Neville Longbottom.
