The Lower Chambers Portrait Corridor is a corridor at Hogwarts Castle. It's walls are covered in portraits and tapestries. This corridor is poorly lit at night, as the portraits can't sleep with the lights on. There is also a framed mirror on one of the walls. [1]
History
1993
In 1993, Harry Potter saw Peter Pettigrew's name on the Marauder's Map. As Harry had heard that Pettigrew was dead, supposedly murdered by Sirius Black, he rushed down from the dormitory in Gryffindor Tower to this corridor in an attempt to locate him. Pettigrew, transformed into his animagus form of the rat, Scabbers, passed right by Harry in this corridor, to the latter's astonishment. Severus Snape then caught Harry wandering the corridor at night, and was about to punish him until Professor Lupin arrived and covered for Harry.[1]
Behind the scenes
- This corridor is only named on the official Marauder's Map replica made by the Noble Collection. In the Marauder's Map on the actual film, there are no words identifying the corridor.
