"Disembodied human hand."
Folio Bruti
A Loose Hand (also known as a Severed Hand or Disembodied Hand) is a human hand that is lacking in any other part of a human's anatomy, that can be controlled by possessing spirit, having the ability the stand, walk, and attack any passerby it despises. It is particularly vulnerable to the Fire-Making Spell, and the Skurge Scouring Charm, when it is possessed. This was Dean Thomas's greatest fear and Boggart at least from the 1993–1994 school year, but likely developed the fear previously.

During the 1992-1993 school year, possessed Loose Hands were scattered all over Hogwarts castle, and would attack students, such as Harry Potter.

Later, in 1993, a boggart took the form of a severed hand in Defence Against the Dark Arts class, when Dean Thomas faced it. When he used Riddikulus, the hand got caught in a mouse trap.[1]
