"Are you a wizard, or what?"
The title of this article is conjectural. Although it is based on canonical information, the actual name is a conjecture and may be supplanted at any time by additional information released from canonical sources. If this occurs, please move this page to the appropriate title. |
- Ron: "You don't know where the other talking gargoyles are, do you?"
- Gargoyle: "Haven't seen another gargoyle since the one on that plinth disappeared."
- — The Lonely Male Gargoyle talks about his friend.[src]
This gargoyle used to sit on a plinth opposite the Lonely Male Gargoyle by the Viaduct at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Sometime in 1994, it was knocked off of its plinth and fell off the side of the castle, leaving the Lonely Male Gargoyle without a companion.
Presumably, this gargoyle also had the ability to talk, although this is not certain.
Behind the scenes
- Hermione: "What happened to it?"
- Gargoyle: "About a year ago some boy flew through here being chased by a dragon - it knocked my friend right over the edge."
- Harry: "Er..."
- — The Lonely Male Gargoyle reveals his friend's fate.[src]
- In the video game adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the Lonely Male Gargoyle implies that Harry Potter was the one who inadvertently knocked this gargoyle over the edge while attempting to escape from the dragon during the First Task of the Triwizard Tournament the previous year. If this is the case, then it would be referential of an event that took place only in the film / video game version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, as in the book version, the dragon never escaped its restraints.
