London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom and home to many magical locations. In addition to being an important Muggle city, London is prominent in Britain's magical community.

London felt the effects of the wizarding wars, many buildings and homes were destroyed during Lord Voldemort's rise of power, including the Brockdale Bridge.

London is the location of many important wizarding institutions, including:

The destruction of the Muggle Brockdale Bridge.
  • The British Ministry of Magic, where the welfare of all things magical were kept in order, up until the fall of the Ministry, 1997-1998. It would later be restored back to its normal self after the destruction of Lord Voldemort and his armies.
  • The commercially important street Diagon Alley, located near the Muggle street Charing Cross Road was thought of as a "portal between the two worlds" and you could reach it by going through the Leaky Cauldron behind the brick wall.

London was an important location to the wizarding world.

  • London is a location that the films are often filmed in, the heart of London has been used in various scenes throughout the films, including taking Harry from his home to the Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, in which he and the others flew across the River Thames.
  • London has held premières of the films.
