London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom and home to many magical locations. In addition to being an important Muggle city, London is prominent in Britain's magical community.

London felt the effects of the wizarding wars, many buildings and homes were destroyed during Lord Voldemort's rise of power, including the Brockdale Bridge.
London is the location of many important wizarding institutions, including:
- The British Ministry of Magic, where the welfare of all things magical were kept in order, up until the fall of the Ministry, 1997-1998. It would later be restored back to its normal self after the destruction of Lord Voldemort and his armies.
- The headquarters of Gringotts Bank, a wizarding bank which is known to be one of the safest place to store something. It once stored the Philosopher's Stone until Nicolas Flamel and Albus Dumbledore thought it was not safe there any longer. Gringotts played a big part in the destruction of the Horcruxes as it held one deep inside.
- St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, a wizarding hospital that treated from minor to major illnesses. This would be home to many patients deemed unfit to ever leave, this included Gilderoy Lockhart, Alice Longbottom and Frank Longbottom. Neville would often visit his parents, even though they didn't recognise him.
- The commercially important street Diagon Alley, located near the Muggle street Charing Cross Road was thought of as a "portal between the two worlds" and you could reach it by going through the Leaky Cauldron behind the brick wall.
- Knockturn Alley, known for being a centre for the Dark Arts
- King's Cross Station, a train station in London is home of the Hogwarts Express, a train that leaves from Platform Nine and Three Quarters, a platform that only witches and wizards can reach. It takes thousands of witches and wizards to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry each year without muggles knowing. It serves both purpose of magical folk and muggles.
- The House of Black's family home Number twelve, Grimmauld Place is located in London. During Voldemort's second rise to power, this house served as the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix and would play a huge role in the war and hold many meetings of the Order without Voldemort knowing of it's location.
London was an important location to the wizarding world.

- London is a location that the films are often filmed in, the heart of London has been used in various scenes throughout the films, including taking Harry from his home to the Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, in which he and the others flew across the River Thames.
