- "It seems only yesterday she was in here herself, buying her first wand. Ten and a quarter inches long, swishy, made of willow. Nice wand for charm work."
- — Mr Ollivander's description of this wand[src]
The wand belonging to Lily J. Potter was 10¼" long, made of willow,[1] and had an unknown core. The wand was manufactured by Garrick Ollivander, who described it as "swishy" and good for charms.[1] Lily most likely used this wand from the time she began Hogwarts and until she was murdered during the First Wizarding War.
History[]
Lily purchased her wand at Ollivanders Wand Shop before she began her education at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1971.[1] She presumably used this wand throughout her education at Hogwarts.
It can be assumed she wielded this wand throughout the First Wizarding War, while being a member of the Order of the Phoenix.[2]
It is unknown what happened to the wand after her death in 1981, but it was possibly buried with her in the Godric's Hollow cemetery.[3]
Lily's son's best friend and the brother of her daughter-in-law, Ron Weasley, also owned a wand hewn from willow.[4]
