Legilimency is the act of navigating through the many layers of a person's mind and correctly interpreting one's findings. The most advanced Legilimens can perform Legilimency nonverbally, but less talented Legilimens must use the incantation Legilimens to enter their victim's mind. The opposite of Legilimency is Occlumency. The root of the word Legilimency is probably the English word "legible". Legilimency is first mentioned in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
