The Leg-Locker Curse (also known as the Leg Locking Spell) is a spell that causes the victim's legs to lock together. It is first used by Draco Malfoy in 1992 when he cast it on Neville Longbottom, with the excuse that he had been looking for someone to test it on. Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley prepared to use it during Harry Potter's second Quidditch match. The incantation is "Locomotor Mortis".

"At that moment Neville toppled into the common room... his legs had been stuck together with what they recognised at once as the Leg-Locker Curse. He must have had to bunny-hop all the way up to Gryffindor tower."
Neville Longbottom having been cursed with this spell by Draco Malfoy in 1991[src]

The Leg-Locker Curse[3], also known as the Leg-Locking Spell[4] (Locomotor Mortis[5]) is a curse[1] that is used to bind the legs of the victim together[3].

Known uses and practitioners

Draco Malfoy used this on Neville Longbottom while bulling him in 1991.[6] In 1997 Harry Potter used this against Draco Malfoy but it missed and backfired of the wall behind Malfoy's ear, during their duel in a school bathroom.[7]

Etymology

English locomotor, meaning "of or relating to locomotion"[8] and Latin mortis, meaning "death"[9]
