[edit] Etymology

Latin inflammo, or the verb inflammatio meaning "to set on fire". Lacarnum, from the Latin “lacerna”, meaning “cloak”.

[edit] Behind the scenes

  • The incantation for this spell is stated in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. In the novel, the incantation is never mentioned, and its visual description is "bright blue flames". Thus, Larcarnum inflamarae may be a replacement of the Bluebell flames charm.
  • Although specifically directed for use on cloaks, it is unknown if it would work against a Dementor or Lethifold.
