"Horace?... Mind if I take this? I do love knitting patterns."
—Albus Dumbledore asking Horace Slughorn[src]

Knitter's Own was a Muggle magazine which focused on the craft of knitting, published by the Knitting Club. In 1996, Albus Dumbledore found a copy of this magazine in the Muggle-owned house in Budleigh Babberton in which Horace Slughorn was hiding, and asked Horace if he could borrow it, although it technically wasn't Horace's to lend.

The magazine offered people 27 scrumptious patterns, a step-by-step crochet guide to classic and contemporary looks, many perfect gift ideas, a free crochet hook, a chance to win £100 worth of the yarn of the season, and a "expert tip of the month" on how to make cosy socks to the whole family.

Behind the scenes

  • The magazine was created entirely for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince film, as there is no real world Knitter's Own magazine.
  • The woman on the magazine cover is often mistaken by fans for author J.K.Rowling. In fact, she is a member of the Art Department who happened to be wearing a suitbale-looking woolly cardigan on the day when the graphic artist was designing the magazine.

Notes and references

  1. 1.0 1.1 It was not mentioned on its own. But Dumbledore mentioned that he was reading the Muggle magazines, and that he loved knitting patterns.
