Kathleen Cauley is listed to have played the character Lavender Brown in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Cauley is a British black actress, like Jennifer Smith, who was her recast for the following film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Neither Cauley or Smith had been asked to return to the role for the following two films and were later replaced by white-British actress Jessie Cave in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in which the role of Lavender became a speaking role.
