Karl Broadmoor, along with his brother, Kevin, was a Beater for the Falmouth Falcons from 1958 to 1969. Karl and Kevin earned no less than 14 suspensions for their violent play and constant rule-breaking.

"Karl" is a German and Scandinavian form of Charles. This was the name of seven emperors of Austria. Other famous bearers include Karl Marx (1818-1883), the German philosopher and revolutionary who laid the foundations for communism, and Karl Jaspers (1883-1969), a German existentialist philosopher.

Notes and references

  1. If he started playing for the Falmouth Falcons in 1958, he must have been at least 17 at that time.
