Isaac (or Iſaac) is a biblical figure, was the only son Abraham had with his wife Sarah, and was the father of Jacob and Esau. Isaac was one of the three patriarchs of the Israelites. In a test of faith, God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac. At the last minute, the angel of God stops Abraham saying "now I know you fear God".
Isaac was mentioned in a book kept in the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts Library by the 1990s.[1]
Behind the scenes
- In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the shrieking book, in which Isaac is mentioned, appears to be a copy of The Works of the Most Reverend Dr. John Tillotson.
