|"Is this all real? Or has this been happening inside my head?"
The subject of this article is of a real-life person, place, group, company, product, or creative work that has been mentioned "in-universe" in a canon source. The Harry Potter Wiki is written from the perspective that all information presented in canon is true (e.g., Hogwarts really exists), and, as such, details contained in this article may differ from real world facts.
Behind the scenes
- In reality, the town of Ilford currently belongs to the county of Greater London, but was a part of Essex until the Municipal Borough of Ilford was abolished and incorporated into Greater London in 1965. This makes the mention of an "Ilford, Essex" in a prop copy of the The Guardian created for the Half-Blood Prince film an anachronism, since the scene that the paper is featured in is set in 1996, based on the canonical timeline. However, it is possible Ilford was never made a part of Greater London in the Harry Potter universe, leaving it in Essex.
- Maggie Smith, who played Minerva McGonagall in all eight Harry Potter films, was born in Ilford.
