- — Rubeus Hagrid on his attempt to turn Dudley Dursley into a pig[src]
This spell was used to transform a human target into a pig. It
produced a flash of violet light when cast.[1]
In 1991, Rubeus Hagrid attempted to cast this spell on Dudley Dursley, but it did not work as intended, only giving Dudley a curly tail that poked through his trousers. This was presumably due to the fact that Hagrid used a broken wand, and, having been expelled from Hogwarts in his third year, was not a fully-trained wizard. However, Hagrid claimed that, because Dudley was already "so much like a pig", all he needed was a tail.[1]
Circe may have used this spell to turn sailors into pigs in ancient Greece.
