The subject of this article is of a real-life person, place, group, company, product, or creative work that has been mentioned "in-universe" in a canon source. The Harry Potter Wiki is written from the perspective that all information presented in canon is true (e.g., Hogwarts really exists), and, as such, details contained in this article may differ from real world facts.
Household Stories was a book featuring a collection of fairy tales gathered by the German folklorists the Brothers Grimm. The tales were translated to English from the original German by Lucy Crane. The book also featured a number of illustrations by Walter Crane.
Behind the scenes
- This prop book label, featured in Hogwarts library scenes throughout the Harry Potter films, was based on the title page of an actual 1893 edition of an English translation of Children's and Household Tales (commonly known in English as Grimms' Fairy Tales). The title page art features an intricately illuminated initial "H" in the word "household." This was likely impossible to incorporate into the prop label, and, thus, the prop label reads "Ousehold Stories".
