Hortense Cooper was a Ravenclaw student who began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1990 or 1991.[1] She told Harry Potter that he could cast Reducto on suits of armour in order to find Stink Pellets during the 1996–1997 school year.
Etymology
- "Hortense" is a feminine form of the Roman family name Hortensius, possibly derived from Latin hortus "garden".
- A "cooper" is one whose occupation is the making of barrels, tubs, and other vessels formed of staves and hoops.
