Bicorns possessed two large horns. These horns were shed annually and were gathered when the Bicorn was not looking.[4] One powdered horn was a required ingredient for Polyjuice Potion.[3] It was not found in the student store-cupboard, but Professor Snape kept one in his office.[2]
History
When trying to persuade Professor Severus Snape to attend Rubeus Hagrid's suprise birthday party in 1984 by gifting him potion ingredients, Jacob's sibling found dead blowflies in the Artefact Room at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with help from Ben Copper and Penny Haywood.[5]
Behind the scenes
- The use of the horn of a Bicorn in the Polyjuice Potion was chosen by J. K. Rowling to represent "the idea of duality".[6]
