This letter was written by Horace Slughorn to Harry Potter, on 1 September, 1996, as an invitation to the first meeting of the Slug Club. Slughorn wrote a similar letter to Neville Longbottom, and had both letters delivered by a third-year girl.[1] The letters were written on parchment and tied with violet ribbon.
