- "These announcements are realllly annoying. We think we know how we can sabotage them, but we need your help."
- — Padma and Parvati Patil asking Harry Potter to help sabotage the loudspeakers[src]
These loudspeakers were used in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to make schoolwide announcements.[1][2]
History[]
During the 1992–1993 school year, Professor Minerva McGonagall used the school loudspeakers to ask all other teachers to meet in the second-floor corridor after the Writing on the Wall was left by a possessed Ginny Weasley.[3]
During the 1995–1996 school year, when Dolores Umbridge, the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher and Hogwarts High Inquisitor, temporarily assumed the position of Headmistress, she used these speakers to announce her restrictive policies. Dumbledore's Army members Padma Patil, Parvati Patil, and Harry Potter responded by sabotaging the speakers with Babbling Beverage, so they would spout nonsense instead.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- In Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, prompts such as what class to head to next are given in the form of Professor McGonagall speaking through these loudspeakers.
