There was a band of white horses owned by Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They were used to pull the sleighs used to carry the students to Hogsmeade Station in the winter season, instead of the usual carriages pulled by Thestrals. Instead of following the normal carriage route, the sleighs were pulled across the frozen lake.
