A Hiccough Sweet was a magical joke product that induced a fit of hiccoughing when eaten.[1]
History
When Bilton Bilmes welcomed people to Zonko's Joke Shop, he would cite it to be home to the original Hiccough Sweets.[2] During Christmas 1986, Madam Puddifoot placed an order at Zonko's for Hiccough Sweets since she planned to serve them as mignardises by her customers' request;[3] these were delivered to her by Jacob's sibling, standing in for Charlie Weasley who had a debt to repay at Zonko's for having accidentally knocking over a display, but who had since been admitted to the Hospital Wing after falling down ladder when helping out decorating Christmas trees at Hogwarts Castle.[4]

In the 1990–1991 school year, as Jacob's sibling attempted to find what or who "Ryu" might be, they and Jae Kim got the idea of getting Argus Filch to deliver Hiccough Sweets to Madam Pince so they could use the distraction to sneak into the Restricted Section.[5]
Ron Weasley and Harry Potter purchased some at Zonko's Joke Shop during a Hogsmeade weekend in 1994.[1]
