Henna is a flowering plant which has been used by humans since ancient times to dye skin, hair, and fabrics.^[1] The term "henna" is also used to refer to dyes derived from the plant.^[1]

In August 1995, the Daily Prophet reported that the "Ginger Witch" was caught in a henna explosion, which she survived.^[2] The following year, the Quibbler reported that the same witch was arrested in Caxambu, Brazil with fake henna.^[3] The Quibbler later reported that this scandal lead to her being sent to Azkaban.^[4]
