- "I'll join you when hell freezes over. Dumbledore's Army!"
- — Neville Longbottom makes his allegiances clear to Voldemort.[src]
Hell is, in many religions, a place of suffering that the soul is believed to reside in after death. In the Christian faith, hell is the place where the souls of those who did not accept the Christian God or Jesus of Nazareth as their saviour go after Judgement Day, and is the dominion of the Devil. Like other similar religious terms, hell is used as a swear word by both wizards and Muggles, often in a context of surprise or dislike of the person the word is directed towards.
Behind the scenes
- Though he does not say it in the books, the phrase "Bloody hell!" is something of a catchphrase of Ronald Weasley in the Harry Potter films.
