"Is this all real? Or has this been happening inside my head?"
The topic of this article is of a real-life subject that has been mentioned "in-universe" in a canon source. The Harry Potter Wiki is written from the perspective that all information presented in canon is true (e.g., Hogwarts really existed), and, as such, details contained in this article may differ from real world facts. |
A helicopter is a type of Muggle aircraft where lift and thrust are supplied by rotating blades.
History
In his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991, Draco Malfoy told long, boastful stories about his skill at flying on a broom that always seemed to end with him narrowly escaping from Muggles in helicopters.[1]
On 2 August of 1995, a helicopter that almost crashed in a field in Surrey was reported on the seven o'clock news.[2]
Wizards and witches seem to have had the unfortunate habit of crashing into helicopters with usually fatal results, such as Fabius Watkins, legendary Quidditch Captain and Chaser for the Montrose Magpies in 1975,[3] and also possibly an unnamed individual in September of 1991.[4]
On 24 June, 1996, the Millennium Bridge was attacked by Fenrir Greyback and a group of Death Eaters. Several helicopters were used to investigate the bridge's destruction.[5]
