The Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone original motion picture soundtrack was released on 30 October 2001. The film's score was composed and conducted by John Williams. The films score introduced many themes that have reoccurred through the film series, most noticeable is Hedwig's Theme. This piece is first introduced in the piece “Prologue” and has appeared in every Harry Potter film to date.

The Philosopher’s Stone soundtrack was also nominated for a Oscar in the Best music, original score, category in 2002.
