Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second Harry Potter video game for the PlayStation.

Official description []

Ignoring Dobby the house-elf's grave warning that disaster will strike if he returns to Hogwarts, Harry embarks on his second year to find Dobby's predictions coming true. Harry soon finds himself entangled in a dark plot against his "Mudblood" classmates, as students keep turning up petrified. Could Draco Malfoy be to blame, or is something even more malevolent at work? With the help of returning friends Hermione, Ron, Hagrid, and Hedwig, players attend new classes to learn second-year spells that will aid them in a quest to uncover the true identity of the "Heir of Slytherin".

Gameplay[]

The game is a 3rd person adventure game. In terms of platforming, you'll need to jump across gaps by running towards the gap to leap across it. For combat, use the X button to cast Flipendo knockback jinxes, which can be used to either attack enemies or push large objects. While this is the gameplay for most of the game, the game will often change things up, as detailed in some levels below. In between the levels set out below, there will be times when you are in a hub world, which is mostly Hogwarts. To get to levels, you'll have to get to certain locations which you can sometimes do by following characters. Even though the game acts like an open world game, it is very linear, so you shouldn't get lost. Every time you load a saved game, there is a brief narrated recap( Narrations for both recaps and story cutscenes are done by Stephen Fry in the European version and Jim Dale in the US version ) of where you are in the story, which should give you an idea of where to go, if you are in a hub. If Harry either loses all of his health or fails a certain mission, it's game over. You are shown either a screen with Harry in the Hospital wing or a screen depending on the mission failed. You can choose to either start from the last checkpoint or exit to the main menu.

Game Over

Levels[]

This is a breakdown of the challenges you will have to complete during the quest. They have been split into levels and does not take into account the location of the game. These level names are not present in the game itself. These level names are custom made by a user for the purposes of breaking down the missions of the game more clearly.

  1. Burrow Introduction

This is where you are introduced to the basic platforming and combat mechanics of the game. You must use Flipendo to push the boxes into position, so that you can climb on one of them, jump to the other, and then jump onto the room, so that you can get inside the house.

2. Ghoul Challenge

The Ghoul is throwing pipes onto the floor. You must use the chest to catch the pipes, before they land on the ground. You must catch a certain number of pipes before time runs out, otherwise Mrs Weasley will yell at you to try again and thus the challenge will be restarted. Once you beat the challenge, you must then use a fully charged Flipendo to smash the barrel blocking your progress. Next there is an optional challenge, which you can skip past.

3. Lifting Objects

You must use Wingardium Leviosa to lift the boxes high enough and then drop them onto the rocks to break them and find the Gnome gloves.

4. Burrow Gnome Challenge

You do not need the win this challenge to progress in the game, but only to try it. The goal is to throw the Gnome either as far as possible or to hit certain targets. This is done by building up the meter as fast as you can, and then once you start spinning in a circle, you must throw the Gnome when the Arrow is in the green zone, depending on which direction you want to throw it. If you don't build up the meter enough or throw the gnome in the red zone, Harry will fall on the ground and the Gnome will escape.

5. Fred Duel

You don't have to win in order to progress. To win this duel, you must hit your opponent with Flipendo jinxes to knock his health down, until it's empty. To get a special jinx, you must get your opponent to hit the objects with a red sparkle, which will release a blue orb, that you must collect to get the special jinx, which will be either 1 of 3 different special jinxes(fast jinx/double powered jinx/instant fully charged jinx) .

6. Burrow Challenge

You must travel through the forest near the Burrow. You'll need to fight enchanted Washing Machine bosses, lawnmowers, levitate objects to help you progress and avoid bees. At the end, you must hit the Puffskein to get the Remembral for Ginny.

7. Floo Powder

This level centers around you sliding down through the Floo Powder portal. You must get to the end of the level before time runs out. If you fall off the slide, you'll be sent back to the start while losing a bit of health. If times runs out or you lose all your health, its game over. The key to beating this level is to balance between speeding up and slowing down.

8. Flying Car

You are only able to control the position of the car, while it is constantly moving forward. The Hogwarts Express is chasing you. To stay ahead, you must collect speed tokens, otherwise the train will bash the car, both dealing huge damage and pushing you forward. You must also avoid obstacles along the way. Collecting spanner power ups will refill your health. If you take too much damage, the car will crash and it's game over.

9. Whomping Willow Boss

To beat this boss, you must get close to the tree and when it opens its mouth, cast Flipendo at it. Try to charge up your jinx to cause more damage. Be careful of the shockwaves cause by the impact of the Willows attacks.

10. Herbology Race Challenge

After some sections of going from one destination to another without any obstacles, you'll arrive at Herbology class. You must get to the finish line before the timer runs out. If you're too late, you'll have to start again.

11. Herbology Button Challenge

To beat this section, you must press the buttons that the white marker goes towards at the right time. Depending on how good your timing is, you can earn extra points.

12. Herbology Spell Challenge

The goal is to protect the mandrakes from the slugs. You must use Incendio Duo to kill the slugs, which you can only use when you are close enough to the slug that it has a green sparkle above it. Once you kill all the slugs, use Wingardium Leviosa to pull the mandrake out of the ground. If the mandrake takes too much damage, it will unleash a massive scream that will both damage you and kill itself. You only need to get 3 mandrake to be allowed to leave the level. If you lose 3 mandrakes, it's game over.

13. Quidditch Training

For the first task, you must fly through the pole arches before time runs out, with the controls being limited to accelerating, braking and moving left/right. Next you must experiment with two brooms, each with different up/down controls. Once you beat these tasks, you can either quit the level or do optional training, which is what you do in the Quidditch level.

14. Ron Duel

Same as the Fred duel but a bit harder and you don't have to beat this level to progress.

15. Chasing Ron

You must keep up with Ron as he runs to Hagrid, while avoiding obstacles and managing the slippery surfaces. Use the below meter to measure the distance between you and Ron. If he gets too far, you'll fail the level and have to start over.

16. Slug Challenge

You need to use the bowl to catch the Slugs that Ron is puking up. The bowl can only hold 5 slugs at a time, otherwise other slugs will fall on the ground. Empty the bowl into the barrel, so that you can catch the other slugs. You must put a certain number of slugs into the barrel before time runs out.

17. Defence Against the Dark Arts Race Challenge

Same as Herbology, but harder.

18. Defence Against the Dark Arts Button Challenge

Same as Herbology, but harder.

19. Defence Against the Dark Arts Spell Challenge

All you need to do is freeze the Pixies, getting close enough that an orange sparkle is above them, then levitate them into cages.

20. Dungeon

Use Incendio Duo and Flinpendo to kill enemies to unlock doors, to find levers needed to create the platforms required to reach the end of the level.

21. Peeves Boss

In First person standing still, hit Peeves with jinxes and use jinxes to destroy the food he's throwing at you.

22. Potions Challenge

Press the button sequences that appear on screen. Complete enough of them before time runs out.

23. Hagrid Gnome Challenge

Same as Burrow Gnome Challenge but harder. You also don't need to win this level to progress.

24. Quidditch

First you'll need to chase Malfoy and bash him enough times to damage his broom. Then you'll need to fly through the rings while chasing the Snitch. If you fly too slow, the bludger will hit you, causing you to lose health. Take too much damage and you'll crash to the ground, then it's game over. Once you go through enough rings, you must then guide the hand over the Snitch and press the X button when prompted. If the timer runs out in this section, you'll have to fly through the rings again.

25. Diagon Alley Challenges

In the Diagon Alley hub, there are only two stores that you can go into, which is where you can find the challenges you must beat.

25A Leeches

To win, you must jinx the pixies in the air in first person standing still. Jinx a certain amount of them before time runs out.

25B Lacewing Flies

You'll need to see which box is shaking, jinx it and when the flies escape, jinx them. Do this enough times before the timer runs out. If you jinx boxes too many times or if you run out of time, you'll have to start again.

26. Malfoy Duel and Snake Boss

From this point, you need to win Duels to progress. Same as Ron duel, but harder. Once you defeat Malfoy, he'll create a giant snake. You'll need to jinx it when its standing still and then avoid its venom spit.

27. Chasing Slytherin Student

Similar to Chasing Ron, but harder. This time the controls are always slippery due to Goyle being bigger than Harry. You also can't jump.

28. Moaning Myrtle Boss

In first person standing still, you'll need to keep jinxing objects thrown at you, until the timer runs out.

29. Lockhart Button Challenge

Same as other Button Challenges but harder.

30. Lockhart Spell Challenge

Once you're close enough to invisible platforms until an orange jinx appears. Jinx it to reveal the platforms. Jump across them before they disappear.

31. Running from Cupids

Run downwards through the corridors to escape the Cupids. Be careful of the gaps and the crumbling floors. If the Cupids get too close to you, they'll sing to you and it's game over.

32. Sneaking to Hagrid's Hut ( The Stealth Level )

To beat this level, you must levitate the objects onto pressure pads to open the locked doors. Avoid the teachers patrolling the grounds. If they see you or if you get too close to them, you'll be caught and sent back to the start, unless you get to a certain checkpoint, in which case you'll be sent back there. Get Invisibility tokens to temporally become invisible to the teachers sight, even allowing you to get close to them. However they don't last long.

33. Forbidden Forest

To get through this level, you'll need to battle giant spiders, jump across disappearing bridges and sneak pass troll guards

34. Aragog Boss

To beat Aragog, you'll have to destroy the 4 colored tree supports for Aragogs web, while fending off the giant spiders. When you kill all the spiders in a group, Aragog himself will attack you, by jumping off his web and then retreating back to it. Don't get too close to the web, or else you'll get stuck to it and have to break free.

35. Getting to Lockhart

To pass the challenge, you'll have to cross the open surfaces before the whirlwind covers it. You'll need to memorize the pattern of spaces that get covered by the whirlwinds. If you get caught in a whirlwind, you take damage and the pattern will reset. Once you get through the two whirlwind challenges, then cross the bridge, turn right, then when you drop down to the area with two doors, be sure to take the door on the left or you'll have to go through the whirlwind challenges again.

36. Chamber of Secrets Entrance

Same as the Floo Powder level, but harder.

37. Lockhart Duel

The hardest duel in the game. Not only does Lockhart have the most health, as well as him shooting jinxes at you diagonally from the ceiling, his Obliviate spell will kill you in one hit.

38. Chamber of Secrets of Challenge

You'll need to fight enchanted soldiers, a giant enchanted soldier boss, big rats, jump across disappearing platforms, reveal secret passages with Verdimilious Duo, levitate boulders to smash grates, fight slugs with Incendio Duo and sneak pass troll guards to get to the final showdown.

39. Basilisk Boss

First you'll need to jinx the Basilisk when it opens it mouth, while avoiding its venom on the ground. Don't get too close or it'll snap at you. Then in the second phase, you need to use the Godric Gryffindor Sword to deflect the Basilisk laser back and then direct the last at it's Fangs while also avoiding its venom on the ground.
