This user has today vandalized the user page of Hunnie Bunn and despite my warning - or because of my warning - he made insultings against me on my talk page. He should either be warned by an admin or blocked. His own talk page is also very interesting. <span style="border:1px solid #E56717;"><font style="background:#F75D59;color:gold;">&nbsp;Harry granger&nbsp;</font><font style="background:yellow;color:black;">&nbsp; Talk&nbsp;</font><font style="background:yellow;color:;">&nbsp;<font style="background: #99CCFF;color:#993300;">&nbsp;contribs</font><font style="background: #99CCFF;color:#993300;"> </font></font></span> 21:38, January 3, 2013 (UTC)

Hi, so this isn't just hoping to get the attention of administrators, they are aware of this on some level, but more about letting it to be generally known: Anyone can help out, and would be appreciated.

  +
A User (you know who you are) has a habit of wrongfully changing what's obviously not a screenshot to be licensed as a screenshot; that, or when they were being helpful and editing a file previously with no info, they'd also use screenshot as the license when it isn't one. If I happened to see it, I'd correct it (many times), but would just like to make this more publicly known, and hopefully, if anyone else sees images being incorrectly licensed, reverts are appreciated?
This above mentioned user was again on my user talk page - Fuck word is now F word, but is that better? <br><span style="border:1px solid #E56717;"><font style="background:#F75D59;color:gold;">&nbsp;Harry granger&nbsp;</font><font style="background:yellow;color:black;">&nbsp; Talk&nbsp;</font><font style="background:yellow;color:;">&nbsp;<font style="background: #99CCFF;color:#993300;">&nbsp;contribs </font style></font></span> 22:38, January 3, 2013 (UTC)

To be clear, I do not know if they still continue to do this (I really hope not), but I do, however, still constantly come across various images left in that state, done by the User. I don't make a habit of tailing their every move; frankly, I want to do what I enjoy doing, but the problem isn't going anywhere. So yeah, would appreciate if someone also lend a hand when time allows. :Category:Screenshots really has a lot that doesn't be long. I'm not asking someone to tackle every file there; all I'm saying is, 1 person 1 image, 10 people doing this for 10 days, would get the same result as 1 person doing 100 a day. The help really would be appreciated, thanks. --<span style="color:#00008B;">S</span><span style="color:#3333A2;">a</span><span style="color:#6666B9;">m</span><span style="color:#9999D1;">m</span><span style="color:#CCCCE8;">m</span><span style="color:#000038;">✦✧</span>(talk) 07:56, 10 July 2021 (UTC)

Has blanked three pages (since restored), even claiming in one case to have made the page "more intelligent"[sic] — I suppose that's for all values of "e intelligent" equalling "onic". Why this user hasn't yet been slapped with a block of at least one month, I don't know. — RobertATfm (talk) 21:31, January 7, 2013 (UTC)

:The user in question has only made those edits, back on January 3, and hasn't been back since. They were duly warned and if it's done again, a block will be made. ProfessorTofty (talk) 22:39, January 7, 2013 (UTC)

:When you have a chance, can you please provide some examples of some images that don't belong? Given that screenshot covers images taken from a "website, video game graphic, computer program graphic, television broadcast, or film" there is going to be very few images that couldn't be a screenshot it seems. In looking a couple dozen pages, I didn't see anything that stood out but there are A LOT of images in that category. It may just come down to what the functional distinction is between an image asset that is downloaded from a website/game vs one captured by taking a screenshot. Anyhow, some examples might help clear up where the dividing lines are. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 20:56, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi, so couldn't find any restriction or specification on Harry Potter Wiki:Policy, Harry Potter Wiki:Editing Policy, or Harry Potter Wiki:User Policy for usage of the Template namespace.

  +
Previously, I think I just moved stuff created for personal use to User subpages, but what's a given ("not to do") to me, likely isn't so for everyone, so am wondering if a statement can be found somewhere, just so it could be directed to when asked.
::User:Cavite was also adding spam.

  +
Given Harry Potter Wiki:Voting policy includes editcounts from Template namespace, I don't think it's quite fair for personal ones to be counted, though I'm not at all suggesting people doing this are with the intention to game the system.

: I've been wondering the same thing since a User set one up the other day, which they now say they want solely for their User page (see candidates for deletion). I couldn't find anything in policy stating they should be deleted, or any sort of limit on what templates they can have. I guess one User template could be okay? Like the three User images rule. I don't think the lack of a template policy has ever been noticed before. - Kates39 (talk) 16:14, 25 December 2021 (UTC)

Apart from the fact that this image is misnamed (on the HDM Wiki this character is called "Lyra Silvertongue" because that's what she's most often called in the series), and the fact that it doesn't really belong here (except possibly as a user-page image — the uploader is called "Lyra888"), this image is a clear copyright violation; a watermark in the middle shows that it was copied from Deviant Art, so unless it was copied from the uploader's own Deviant Art account (and there's no evidence of this), the uploader had no right to copy it here. On this basis, I've already deleted this image from the HDM Wiki (where, even if there's no copyright violation, it doesn't belong because of the "no fanon" policy there). — RobertATfm (talk) 21:36, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

I don't know how to say this, but I find this person's behaviour concerning. Recently they have accused me of harassing them for saying their use of talk pages is "bizarre", but how on earth is "bizarre" a mean-spirited word? It quite simply is not. They have even said to a Fandom employee that I make them feel "unsafe" from editing, but they are still editing normally (although that's off this wiki). People need to learn to accept constructive criticism when needed, as this person has misused talk pages in the past for inappropriate messages that should have been edit summaries, and I wasn't the only person to find fault with this behaviour. Have I ever threatened them off the network? No I quite simply have not, nor has anyone else I have seen. They have even rather misleading claimed that they are at risk of being blocked, which so far hasn't been the case. Castlemore did have to protect their user page because they were editing it too much. This behaviour I find concernign because I don't exactly appreciate being accused of wrongdoing when none went ahead. Cavalier One did say maybe I read some of their talk pages too far (but they were still incorrect), which I admitted to, so I don't see what else I can really do. Castlemore also finds this person's behaviour concerning. RedWizard98 (talk) 18:13, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
I've just reverted three very similar edits to this page, ostensibly by two different editors but the similarity makes me suspect that one may be a sockpuppet of the other. Both sets of edits introduced the (to my knowledge false) information that Dumbledore was born in the 1840s rather than 1881; and as if to underscore my view that these were vandal edits, the first also changed one spelling of "even" to "ev4n" whilst the second pair added unnecessary formatting. Also, the first of these two was done within five minutes of my reverting the very first one.

  +
::Also I feel again that this person is asking redundant, strange and rather disruptive questions like "can I edit my user page on the whole Fandom network for more than 15% of my total edits", the answer to which is very obvious. This nature of questions is disruptive and unhelpful and most importantly have nothing to do with this wiki. Is further action needed? — RobertATfm (talk) 01:30, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

:JKR reportedly stated that Dumbledore was 150 in a 2000 Scholastic.com live interview. Which, based on the fact that the books are set in the 1990s, would've put his birth in the 1840s. Fans accepted this as Dumbledore's age for a long time, until Deathly Hallows was released and it was revealed he was born in 1881 instead. That means JKR either changed her mind about Dumbledore's age at some point, or whoever transcribed the interview misheard "one-hundred-fifty" when JKR really said "one-hundred-fifteen" (someone born in 1881 would've been 113/114 in 1994 and 1995, the years in which GoF, released in 2000, are set — remember that JKR has admitted that maths aren't her strong suit).

:::For my remarks on this situation, please see here. Furthermore, you are reporting a user for asking a question which I feel is not the intended use of this reporting page. If it was obvious, then the user would not have to have it clarified for them. Please assume good faith and be civil to other users. Your response could have simply told them "no it does not" without the need for the rest of the comment. - <span style="color:black">Cavalier One</span>(<span style="color:red">Wizarding Wireless Network</span>) 02:27, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
:So I wouldn't necessarily label the edits to the Albus Dumbledore as the deliberate insertion of false information; it may be the case of someone forgetting the most recent canon information and correcting what seemed to them to be an error. "Ev4n" may also simply be a strange typo, since the "4" key is located above the "e" key.

::::The intended use of the RFAA is for users who are displaying such bad behaviour that only admin intervention can resolve it after other avenues have been taken. It is not here to report users when they ask questions that you feel are "irrelevant". I do not understand how a question about their user page could be considered "disruptive" - it is a rather harsh reaction to something relatively minor. If you feel there are issues in the future, like has been explained to you before, a simple "no it doesn't" would suffice. If things weren't taken so out of proportion and good-faith was assumed, then things can be resolved with more civility. - Kates39 (talk)

I just reverted an edit to this page by User:Sev Lover Forever, because it looks to me like a vandal edit (this user has removed the Name parameter from the infobox), and because it also claims "no canon source" for the information deleted, despite the sources given looking valid to me.

:::All right, sorry to intervene this late, but I am going to be honest with you all. The reason why I brought all this up all along about my point of view towards RedWizard98's constructive criticism is because I actually HAVE been falsely banned and sockpuppeted on a different Fandom network (I don't want to reveal the name that platform) a very long time ago in 2016 before I even joined HPW, and am afraid that would happen here too. As a matter of fact, I shall share my experience about it below:
  +
::::<u>A user on that wiki secretly and intentionally accused me of "threatening to track down his home address, stab his eyes out, rape his younger sister, and burn down their house" and knowing it is 100% false,</u> something I would NEVER, EVER even think of doing!!!!! The admins and bureaucrats there simply believed that user and did not even give me a chance to speak up at all, <u>permanently banning and sockpuppeting me immediately!!!</u> A few days later, I even found out on Facebook that he and his friends were at a trampoline park, triumphantly celebrating my despair with the caption "We got this dude's Fandom account terminated, may he try taking his anger out on other people and get arrested! Let's party on!"...and he was *8 YEARS OLD—* Fandom clearly states you MUST be AT LEAST 13 YEARS OF AGE to have an account!!!!!!!!!! I dug really deep into it and figured that he looked me up on Facebook, created a Fandom account with an unknown email address and using my name (Delaney Wang) as the display name, and wrote about what I explained in the aforementioned <u>underlined "quote"</u> above. As soon as I came to the conclusion of all this I knew exactly what must be done: (1) report that post to the Facebook admin and (2) also used it as proof to the highest ranking Fandom staff members in order for THE CORRECT Fandom and Facebook accounts (HIS) to be terminated and my punishment on that Fandom wiki network finally repealed.
  +
:::So, ever since that despicable incident all those years ago, I've been maximally protective of my account across all Fandom networks and made my Facebook account completely private. I know both RedWizard98 and Castlemore actually do a great job here and that they wouldn't ever imagine do something like that kid did either—I was just afraid something like THAT to happen over here too, my favorite Fandom network of all. Sorry for having to bring all of this up and hope this explains everything, -<br/> <span style="border:3px solid #FF00FF;"><font style="background:#00FFFF;color:#FF00FF;">&nbsp;Delaney Wang&nbsp;</font><font style="background:#FF00FF;color:#FFFFFF;">&nbsp; Talk&nbsp;</font><font style="background:#FF00FF;color:;">&nbsp;<font style="background: #FFFF00;color:#FF00FF;">&nbsp;Activity</font> <font style="background: #FFFF00;color:;"> </font></font></span> 19:29, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Again this feels tiresome, but how can someone on the wiki hand out such threats to other users over their behaviour on the wiki by threatening to report them to Brandon Rhea (see User talk:LukaKeats#Actor birth dates), who is a Fandom company official. It's utterly ridiculous, over-dramatic and inappropriate; who in their right mind would assume a company vice president would deal with local wiki issues? This user has no local special rights yet seems to act like they have authority they simply don't have. I don't even do this kind of thing. All this user did was some relatively minor disruptive editing, all that was needed to do was to talk to them on their talk page and ask them to stop. This behaviour I think is exceptionally annoying to everyone, very likely to put off new users and time and time again, every time someone has tried to help them and give them useful advice and information, it has not resonated with them, been ignored and I don't know if anything more can be done. Nobody else on this wiki seems to think that Fandom employees will resolve every single local issue, it's an utter misunderstanding that has been explained to them many times. Hi, so this isn't just hoping to get the attention of administrators, they are aware of this on some level, but more about letting it to be generally known: Anyone can help out, and would be appreciated.

To be clear, I do not know if they still continue to do this (I really hope not), but I do, however, still constantly come across various images left in that state, done by the User. I don't make a habit of tailing their every move; frankly, I want to do what I enjoy doing, but the problem isn't going anywhere. So yeah, would appreciate if someone also lend a hand when time allows. Category:Screenshots really has a lot that doesn't be long. I'm not asking someone to tackle every file there; all I'm saying is, 1 person 1 image, 10 people doing this for 10 days, would get the same result as 1 person doing 100 a day. The help really would be appreciated, thanks. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 07:56, 10 July 2021 (UTC)

When you have a chance, can you please provide some examples of some images that don't belong? Given that screenshot covers images taken from a "website, video game graphic, computer program graphic, television broadcast, or film" there is going to be very few images that couldn't be a screenshot it seems. In looking a couple dozen pages, I didn't see anything that stood out but there are A LOT of images in that category. It may just come down to what the functional distinction is between an image asset that is downloaded from a website/game vs one captured by taking a screenshot. Anyhow, some examples might help clear up where the dividing lines are. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 20:56, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Lack of template policy?

Hi, so couldn't find any restriction or specification on Harry Potter Wiki:Policy, Harry Potter Wiki:Editing Policy, or Harry Potter Wiki:User Policy for usage of the Template namespace.

Previously, I think I just moved stuff created for personal use to User subpages, but what's a given ("not to do") to me, likely isn't so for everyone, so am wondering if a statement can be found somewhere, just so it could be directed to when asked.

Given Harry Potter Wiki:Voting policy includes editcounts from Template namespace, I don't think it's quite fair for personal ones to be counted, though I'm not at all suggesting people doing this are with the intention to game the system.

Also wondered about Harry potter oc, Harry Potter oc2, and Harry Potter OC; like, do we need all three? Is one even allowed? --Sammm✦✧(talk) 04:48, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

I've been wondering the same thing since a User set one up the other day, which they now say they want solely for their User page (see candidates for deletion).

Delaney Wang

Also I feel again that this person is asking redundant, strange and rather disruptive questions like "can I edit my user page on the whole Fandom network for more than 15% of my total edits", the answer to which is very obvious. This nature of questions is disruptive and unhelpful and most importantly have nothing to do with this wiki. RedWizard98 (talk) 23:36, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
For my remarks on this situation, please see here. - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 02:27, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
The question has no relevance to the HP wiki, so it has zero place. It is not the business of HP wiki editors to answer unrelated, irrelevant questions which do not affect wiki business. RedWizard98 (talk) 15:23, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
The intended use of the RFAA is for users who are displaying such bad behaviour that only admin intervention can resolve it after other avenues have been taken.
It principally was not used for that purpose. It was merely an additional comment. RedWizard98 (talk) 22:20, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

All right, sorry to intervene this late, but I am going to be honest with you all.
A user on that wiki secretly and intentionally accused me of "threatening to track down his home address, stab his eyes out, rape his younger sister, and burn down their house" and knowing it is 100% false, something I would NEVER, EVER even think of doing!!!!! The admins and bureaucrats there simply believed that user and did not even give me a chance to speak up at all, permanently banning and sockpuppeting me immediately!!! A few days later, I even found out on Facebook that he and his friends were at a trampoline park, triumphantly celebrating my despair with the caption "We got this dude's Fandom account terminated, may he try taking his anger out on other people and get arrested! Let's party on!"...and he was *8 YEARS OLD—* Fandom clearly states you MUST be AT LEAST 13 YEARS OF AGE to have an account!!!!!!!!!! I dug really deep into it and figured that he looked me up on Facebook, created a Fandom account with an unknown email address and using my name (Delaney Wang) as the display name, and wrote about what I explained in the aforementioned underlined "quote" above.
So, ever since that despicable incident all those years ago, I've been maximally protective of my account across all Fandom networks and made my Facebook account completely private. I know both RedWizard98 and Castlemore actually do a great job here and that they wouldn't ever imagine do something like that kid did eitherI was just afraid something like THAT to happen over here too, my favorite Fandom network of all. Sorry for having to bring all of this up and hope this explains everything, -

Please don't bold the title. Also, there is no need to bold and underline your text every few lines, or to spam exclamation marks. It makes your messages extremely hard to read.
I am sorry to hear about your experience in 2016. Making your account private seems like a good idea.
I don't really know how your story was relevant to anything here but it's good that you got it off your chest, I suppose. Just please try to keep on topic in talk pages, that's all. Castlemore (talk) 12:36, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Yet more meaningless spam and the same unproductive obsession with the idea he’s going to be blocked. Castlemore (talk) 10:10, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

Template policy

I've made a proposal to have a template policy here and would like editors, especially cmods and admins, to comment and keep the discussion going. I really think this is one of the topics we should discuss. - Peregino (talk) 07:27, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

Delaney Wang and Dim

Dim is the sockpuppet of Delaney Wang. The user revealed it himself. - Peregino (talk) 02:47, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

This user for some reason has created multiple accounts for no clear reason, which is baffling to say the least. RedWizard98 (talk) 03:33, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
This user obviously violate our multiple accounts policy, and thus should be blocked for some time. - Peregino (talk) 04:22, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
First of all, the username is Whiplash Foot, not "Dim", and since the account already revealed itself and applied Alt persona to its user page, there's no violation here. MalchonC (talk) 04:28, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
Agreed, Malchon. -

And @Peregino, I honestly have no idea why you would just assume I have violated the multiple accounts policy by simply creating a new account; not to mention Sockpuppets are ONLY for users who have repeatedly or seriously violated against the policies, and all I ever did on my new account was edit my own user profile page and leave necessary messages on talk pages, whichin any caseis far from violating any of the policies!! -

Another totally juvenile vandal-only account making utterly stupid statements about random characters being gay. Just block them as there is no possibility of positive input. RedWizard98 (talk) 22:41, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Please avoid using words like 'moronic' and 'stupid'. There are no exceptions to HPW:NPA, regardless of the conduct of the user you are directing these words towards. -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  23:10, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
Said words are not offensive or discriminatory. RedWizard98 (talk) 11:01, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
Some words (moronic, juvenile, etc.) might not be directly offensive, but they can make the message-receivers feel unwelcomed. Why don't you try giving warnings and advice without using these words? - Peregino (talk) 11:14, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

This user's edit is sexually offensive, using the words "sex" and "porn". This is extremely inappropriate and obscene, which is extremely unacceptable. Even their username suggests obscenity. Chase268 and Chase Scott Bechtel

I believe these two users are the same person, based off of a similar name and editing history. Chase Scott Bechtel has already been blocked, which makes me think they are using Chase268 as a sockpuppet to circumvent the ban. Is there some way to confirm this? AD Vortigern (talk) 04:29, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

I agree. Their "playable with cheat" edits are literally the same. We'll wait for an admin to see this and request for the two users' IP check. - Peregino (talk) 05:36, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
You know, as a faster and much more effective way, you guys can simply use this (Submit a request - Fandom Control Desk), and under "What can we help you with today?", select "I am reporting a problem on Fandom" and under "Please choose the category that best fits your issue (optional)", select "I need an IP check on another user". Then, convey the "Subject" of your issue along with a further explanation ("Description") on it. Hope this helps, -

Thank you, but on this wiki, we have to discuss first before reporting someone. - Peregino (talk) 06:04, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
FYI, without sounding presumptious, most of us do know how to contact Fandom if necessary. And the aforementioned account has been active since 2022, before the latter was even registered. If the behaviour is not cross-Fandom disruption, a local admin should resolve this. RedWizard98 (talk) 14:06, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
User has been checked and determined to be a sockpuppet of Chase Scott Bechtel. - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network)
Hi, the current ban Chase Scott Betchel currently has is only a partial block for the article they targeted, it does not apply to the whole wiki; surely this block needs expanding to the whole wiki? RedWizard98 (talk) 22:02, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
I can't confirm this 100%, but according to what I heard, this user has also been vandalizing multiple wikis from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel Fandom networks as well!! If my suspicion is proven to be correct, he indeed needs to be blocked "across the ENTIRE Fandom platform". -

Then by all means report them to Fandom zendesk or the SOAP wiki if their behaviour is disruptive enough. RedWizard98 (talk) 12:12, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
You must understand that if you think someone should be blocked across Fandom, then Fandom zendesk must be informed. RedWizard98 (talk)

Chase268 needs to have their talk page editing right revoked too, as they continue to blank the page after warnings. MalchonC (talk) 15:54, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

Can anyone with special rights add the "Summary Template" into this file? It is protected, and I'm not allowed to edit it. Thanks. - Peregino (talk) 05:22, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Just adding Category:Images for use on the Harry Potter Wiki is sufficient, I think, which I just did. What do you think could be written in the template if one is to be added? MalchonC (talk) 05:24, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for your help :) I'm not sure what should be add to the template, but maybe this?:

- Peregino (talk) 05:30, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

It was likely created by editors of this wiki, so perhaps Fairuse is inaccurate. But then again, I don't know what to put either. MalchonC (talk) 05:33, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Delaney Wang

Inexplicable threatening behaviour. Would appreciate if an administrator could resolve this. Castlemore (talk) 19:36, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

Somewhat personal attack-ish behaviour here as well. Castlemore (talk) 20:48, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
This user's behaviour is strange to say the least. Would very much like admins' input and/or intervention in this. MalchonC (talk) 03:58, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
Recently, this user has started to exhibit rather aggressive behaviour. Previously, their concern was primarily about the fear of being blocked or banned; however, they are now issuing threats to report multiple users to Fandom staffs. This conduct is (to me) unacceptable within our community, which prioritises unity and the resolution of issues through peaceful means rather than starting/exacerbating them. - Peregino (talk) 04:55, 16 April 2024 (UTC)

RedWizard98 (talk) 13:50, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

It is true that lately, this user has become somewhat aggressive, making new users who make minor disruptions feel unwelcome. However, I believe everyone deserves a second chance. Therefore, I suggest that an official warning be given to the user in question, and if such behaviour persists, then decisive action must be taken. - Peregino (talk) 14:18, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
Also, I reckon Delaney owes LunaKeats an apology. I mean, how can a community operate peacefully and happily if those who make others feel bad don’t apologise? - Peregino (talk) 14:46, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
Initial three-day block has been applied; if behaviour continues, further action will be taken. - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 21:46, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
I respect that, but I'm a bit confused as to why Delaney's been blocked for three days for highly intimidating and bothersome behaviour while LukaKeats has been blocked for ten days for disruptive editing in articles. RedWizard98 (talk) 22:51, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
LukaKeats is only blocked for seven days, not ten. And the difference is that Luka was actually vandalising, Delaney was not. Personally I don't see the confusion? -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  23:22, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
