The Harry Potter books also known as the Harry Potter novels are the popular series written by author J. K. Rowling. The series spans seven books (one for each of Harry Potter's years at Hogwarts). The first six books have also been made into movies by Warner Bros. Pictures, while the last movie is in the works. It has been confirmed by Warner Bros. that the final book will be a two-part film.
The books concern a young wizard called Harry Potter and his journey through Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The stories tell of him overcoming dangerous obstacles to defeat the evil Lord Voldemort who killed his parents when Harry was only 15 months old. The books follow Harry and friends in a way that by the end of the seventh book, the story tells of Harry's progression through six years of school. The first Harry Potter book was published in 1997 by Bloomsbury in London. The last book sold more than 12 million copies in the U.S.
