"Harry took off his watch, which he was only wearing out of habit, as it didn't work anymore, and stuffed it into his pocket."

This watch was owned and used by Harry Potter, which he wore around his wrist.[1][2][3]

History[]

Harry apparently acquired the watch sometime in 1991 or after, as following the vanishing glass incident at the zoo in Surrey, he wished that he had a watch so he could tell when he could go get food while lying in his dark cupboard.[4] He also later looked at Dudley's watch to tell the time until midnight on his birthday.

After Harry and Ron drank Polyjuice Potion to turn into Crabbe and Goyle, Harry checked his watch and saw that five minutes out of their one hour to maintain their transformation had passed.[5]

It was destroyed in the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament in early 1995, which took place in the Hogwarts Great Lake since it was not waterproof.[1] He took it off when Rubeus Hagrid taught his fourth-year Care of Magical Creatures class about Nifflers.[2] By May of 1995, he had discarded the watch entirely, and relied on Ron's to keep track of the time during a particularly dull History of Magic lesson.[3]

Harry was later given a replacement watch on his birthday on 31 July 1997, as it was traditional to give a wizard a watch when he comes of age.[6]
