"Harry took off his watch, which he was only wearing out of habit, as it didn't work anymore, and stuffed it into his pocket."
— Harry takes off his watch prior to a lesson about nifflers.[src]

This watch was used by Harry Potter until it was destroyed in the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament, since it was not waterproof. He took it off when Rubeus Hagrid taught his fourth year Care of Magical Creatures class about nifflers.[1] By May of 1995, he had discarded the watch entirely, and relied on Ron's to keep track of the time during a particularly dull History of Magic lesson.[2] Harry was later given a replacement watch on his birthday in 1997, as it was traditional to give a wizard a watch when he comes of age.[3]

Harry apparently acquired the watch sometime in 1991 or after, as following the vanishing glass incident at the Zoo in Surrey, he wished that he had a watch while laying in his dark cupboard.
