Harry Potter's sixteenth birthday party was interupted by Remus Lupin on July 31, 1996. Remus reported that Igor Karkaroff's corpse was discovered. Bill Weasley added that Florean Fortescue was also murdered by Death Eaters. Harry was deeply hurt by this, as Fortescue gave him free ice cream. Also, Arthur Weasley told them that the wandmaker Mr. Ollivander had disappeared. Molly Weasley did not appreciate this topic of conversation, and tried to change the subject.
