"'Out of the way, out of the way!' sang Mrs Weasley, coming through the gate with what appeared to be a giant, beach-ball-sized Snitch floating in front of her. Seconds later, Harry realised that it was his birthday cake, which Mrs Weasley was suspending with her wand, rather than risk carrying it over uneven ground."
— Molly brings in Harry's birthday cake[src]

This cake was made by Molly Weasley to celebrate Harry Potter's seventeenth birthday. The cake was made in the form of a Golden Snitch, said to be beach-ball-sized, likely to celebrate Harry's status as star Seeker on the Gryffindor Quidditch team.[1]

Upon seeing the cake, Harry stated that it looked amazing, and Molly replied fondly that it was nothing. Harry's comment earned him a thumbs-up and a mouthed "Good one" from Ronald Weasley, who had been reading Twelve Fail-Safe Ways to Charm Witches, not realising that Harry most likely gave the compliment due to his natural politeness.[1]

Later, when Rufus Scrimgeour paid a visit to reveal the contents of The Last Will and Testament of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore and got into an argument with Harry regarding a possible message hidden in the first Golden Snitch that Harry Potter had ever caught, he suggested that the fact that Harry's cake was shaped like a Snitch could be significant, earning him more of Harry's contempt.[1]
