Harmonia Nectere Passus is a spell used to perfect a Vanishing Cabinet's performance.

Draco Malfoy used this spell on the broken Vanishing Cabinet at Hogwarts in the Room of Requirement as he was attempting to repair it during the 1996–1997 school year.[1]

Etymology

Harmonia Nectere Passus derives from the Latin word "harmonia", meaning "harmony",[2] the Latin word "nectere" which means "to tie, bind"[3], and the Latin term "passus" meaning "step, pace", which came from "pati" meaning "suffer, allow, undergo"[4]. Effectively, the entire phrase comes out to mean "Allow(ing) to bind the harmony." Basically, binding the rift between the sister Vanishing Cabinets.

Behind the scenes

  • Harmonia Nectere Passus is one of the only four spells known to have three words to its incantation, the other two being Petrificus Totalus Duo, Tria and Accio (sometimes).
