This Quidditch match took place in June 1992 between the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw Quidditch teams.[1] Ravenclaw won by a significant number of points, as the Gryffindor Seeker, Harry Potter, was in the Hospital Wing recovering from an attack by Lord Voldemort and Quirinus Quirrell in the Underground Chambers.[1] It was described as Gryffindor's worst defeat since 1692.[2]

Harry was informed of this when he awoke, three days afterward, by his friend Ronald Weasley; despite losing the match, Gryffindor still won the House Cup due to last-minute points awarded by Headmaster Dumbledore.[1] The team Captain and Keeper Oliver Wood once again reminded the team of this prior to their first training session in the following school year, causing Harry to feel extreme guilt.[2]
