Great North Eastern Railway (GNER) was a company that operated trains in the United Kingdom. One of its service routes ran from King's Cross Station in London to Edinburgh and Leeds.[1] The Weasley family and Harry Potter walked past these GNER trains on their way to the barrier leading to Platform 9¾ at King's Cross Station on 1 September, 1992.
Behind the scenes[]
- The presence of trains from this company in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is an anachronism, as the real company did not begin operation until 1996.
- The train company was replaced by East Coast in 2009, and it was temporarily named National Express East Coast from December 2007 to 2009.
