In 1991 Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, Gryffindor House Ghost, informed Harry Potter that a curse-dependent locking spell had been cast at the exit door, and Harry had to travel through the corridors off this room to break the main floating eyes curses to break the locking spell and get out.
